Project Description:

The Parkside Condominium development is a 116-unit complex located at Guadelupe Parkway and Park Avenue in San José, California.  It was accomplished in conjunction with the Redevelopment Agency of San José, to provide affordable housing for moderate income families.

A significant design challenge was to create units which were large enough for families, yet to keep the cost low enough to be affordable while providing aesthetically pleasing spaces and forms.  Color variations from unit to unit gives a great deal of interest to the project, while the gable roof forms recall traditional single-family home vernacular.

Interior site spaces create a sense of community for interaction of residents as well as provide ample play areas for children in a secure environment.

The project was privately developed by Fountain Lane Properties and was sold out far more quickly than projected, due to its aesthetic appeal, comfortable floor plans and affordable price.
